Tying Cody's Skinny Diva Caddis

This is a follow up to last week’s post on the Brachycentrus Caddis. Today I will be tying for you a very simple fly I’ve developed that is incredibly productive on the streams and rivers in which the Brachycentrus Caddis live. Below will be a step-by-step illustrated guide, so follow along and get some of these essential flies tied up for your box today.

Recipe:

Hook - Daiichi 1270 multi-use, size - 16

Bead - 2.3 mm black

Thread - Danville 6/0 in black

Body - UTC Holo Tinsel, Med, Chartreuse, w/U.V. Resin coat

Legs/Head - Hareline Dubbin Ice Dub in Peacock Black

As I said, it is an easy fly to tie. You can get a dozen thrown together in no time at all. I know this will become one of your go-to caddis imitations once tried. It can be fished under an indicator or Czech nymphed. I have found that it works great with a “Drop shot” below it in fast, deep pockets.
